NOTE.

GRADING AND SALARIES OF DEPARTMENT OF

SURVEYORS OF SHIPS.

Principal Surveyor of Ships.

£1,200

Two Senior Surveyors of Ships.

£1,000 x £50 - £1,150.

Thirteen Surveyors of Ships.

£650 for two years then £700 x £30

probation for the first two years.

Residential Allowances.

In addition to the above salaries a non-pensionable

residential allowance is paid while an officer is in the

Colony, at the rate of 10% of the first £400, 5% of the

second £400 and 21% of the third £400 of his salary.

Quarters.

If occupying Government quarters an officer is

liable to pay rent of 12% of his salary plus 1% in respect

of furniture if supplied.by Government. If not occupying

Government quarters he is eligible for rent allowance in accordance with General Orders, the basic intention of which is to provide for the payment of an allowance equal to any excess of the actual rent paid by the officer, subject to

certain maxima, over 12% of his salary.
